In order to sensitize Police officials, on 26th June -2019, SHARP Islamabad team organized one day training on “Human and refugee rights in Pakistan” at Police Lines, Muzaffarabad, AJK. A total of 25 officers of different ranks (including sub-inspectors, head constables, constables etc.) participated in the training.
Mr. Fahim Ahmed AIG Muzaffarabad was invited as a Chief Guest; he embellished the event, along with SSP Mr. Sardar Musa Khan (Principal PTS) graced the occasion, as a guest of honor.

The training workshop formally started with Recitation of the Holy Quran.
Opening session of Training:
After registration, Ms. Ghazala Mirza opened the training workshop by welcoming all the attendees, speakers and guests; and thanks all participators for having valuable presence in the training workshop.
Introduction of SHARP and Session on “Human Rights” by Mr. Mudassar Javed:
Mr. Mudassargave a detailed overview about the core function of SHARP-Pakistan. He briefed that SHARP-Pakistan is providing free legal Aid, advice, and assistance to Afghans Refugees and Asylum seekers in Pakistan under UNHCR mandate.
Presentation on “Refugees Rights” by Ms. Ghazala Mirza:
Ms. Ghazala introduced United Nation High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and its mandate in Pakistan. She explained the word “Refugee” under Article 1 (A) of 1951, Refugee Convention, International Refugee Law, International Human Rights Law, International Humanitarian Law and National Laws that provide the legal frame work to protect the refugee.
Closing Remarks by Mr. Fahim Ahmed AIG Muzaffarabad:
The honorable Chief Guest Mr. Fahim Ahmed (AIG Muzaffarabad) appreciated SHARP & UNHCR for providing this learning opportunity to the police officials.. He took pledge from all attendees to serve humanity at their best without any discrimination and acumen.
He also admired the services and sacrifices the Police officials and congratulated SHARP-Pakistan and UNHCR teams for organizing such a fruitful training for police officials. At the end he emphasized to SSP Mr. Sardar Musa Khan (Principal PTS Muzaffarabad) to include Human Rights as courses for police official in trainings syllabus.
Vote of Thanks:
Mr. Taufiq Ahmed extended special thanks to Mr. Fahim Ahmed (AIG Muzaffarabad), SSP Mr. Sardar Musa Khan (PTS Principal), all the participants and supporting staff to grace the occasion with their immense presence. He also asked all the participants for commitment of serving humanity at their best without any discrimination. He acknowledged the sacrifices of police while performing their duties; although police department is deprived by the authorities in many aspects yet their performance is remarkable.
Distribution of Certificates and souvenirs:
Mr. Fahim Ahmed, Sardar Musa Khan, Mr. Mudassar Javed and Ms. Ghazala distributed the certificates among the attendees. Mr. Mudassar Javed also presented souvenirs to the Chief Guest, Mr. Fahim Ahmed (AIG Muzaffarabad) and guest of honor to SSP Mr. Sardar Musa Khan (PTS Principal).
