SHARP, under its protection project, organized a one-day training workshop for police officials at Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh, Lahore. The session aimed to enhance understanding of human rights and the role of law enforcement in promoting rights-based, accountable, and community-sensitive policing. A total of 40 male police officials, including Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors, participated.
Led by Mr. Aatif Afzal, Project Director-ICT, SHARP team included Ms. Arooj Un Nissa, Field Manager; Mr. Shah Faisal, Senior Legal Expert; and Ms. Laraib Saeed, Project Officer. The workshop covered national and international human rights frameworks and highlighted the importance of protecting vulnerable communities, including refugees and displaced persons.
Ms. Monaza Karamat (SP, Police Lines Lahore) attended as the Chief Guest, with Mr. Babar Shaukat (DSP) as the Guest of Honor. Both dignitaries acknowledged the significance of such training in strengthening police capacity and promoting rights-based policing.
In her remarks, Ms. Karamat commended SHARP’s initiative and emphasized the importance of adopting a human rights-centered approach, especially when working with marginalized communities.
As a token of appreciation, SHARP presented recognition shields to the dignitaries in recognition of their continued support and commitment to upholding human rights.
