SHARP Celebrates World Refugee Day 2025 in Islamabad with Refugee Communities under Protection Project

SHARP continued its World Refugee Week 2025 commemorations with a vibrant and heartfelt event in Islamabad, organized with the support of the Protection Project team. The event brought together refugee communities, partners, and stakeholders to honor resilience, hope, and solidarity.
 
Mr. Mudassar Javed, CEO SHARP, warmly welcomed all participants and reaffirmed SHARP’s steadfast commitment to standing with refugees by protecting their rights, advocating for their inclusion, and supporting their journey toward a dignified, peaceful, and empowered future. He emphasized the importance of solidarity, compassion, and collective responsibility in creating a more just and humane society for displaced populations.
 
The celebration featured a rich array of cultural and interactive activities, including Thread of Solidarity, Face Painting, Musical Performances, screening of a Documentary on World Refugee Day, Cultural Dress Display with Solidarity Crowns and Chart, and Interactive Discussions highlighting traditions and lived experiences.
 
Participants shared inspirational stories of migration, expressing deep gratitude to SHARP and UN agencies for their positive and vital role in transforming their lives.
 
Ms. Esther, UNHCR Representative, shared a heartfelt message, expressing UNHCR’s continued support for refugees and appreciation for their courage and resilience. She emphasized that World Refugee Day is a time to reflect on hope for a better future and affirmed that refugees will one day find a safe and peaceful place to call home.
 
In his address, Mr. Zakir Ullah, Director of Protection at the Chief Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees, reaffirmed their commitment to making Pakistan a safer and more supportive environment for refugees. He also recognized SHARP’s significant role in advocating for and providing essential support to displaced populations across the country.
 
The event concluded on a joyful note with a cake-cutting ceremony and a lively Attan performance, celebrating the rich cultural heritage and unity among communities.
