SHARP Protection Team Conducted Two Capacity Building Workshops with Islamabad Based Lawyers

SHARP remains committed to strengthening the capacities of justice sector stakeholders, where lawyers play a vital role in upholding human rights and legal protection mechanisms. In this regard, the SHARP Protection Team successfully conducted two capacity-building workshops with Islamabad-based lawyers, engaging 57 male and female participants to enhance their understanding of human rights laws, including national and international legal frameworks and international laws on deportation, repatriation, and relocation.

The sessions were facilitated by Ms. Aneela Sarfraz (Senior Protection Legal Expert), and Ms. Saba and Mr. Habib Kareem (Protection Lawyers). Project Director, Mr. Aatif Afzal, welcomed participants and highlighted SHARP’s 25 years of services and its commitment to protecting displaced communities, while Project Manager, Ms. Huma Aziz, delivered SHARP’s organizational introduction.

The trainings included pre-and post-assessments, group presentations, and case studies to ensure an interactive learning experience. In his closing remarks, Mr. Yasir Badshah, Finance Secretary IDBA, appreciated SHARP’s efforts in enhancing the capacity of lawyers on human rights laws.

While addressing the closing ceremony, Mr. Mudassar Javed, CEO SHARP, commended the participation of female lawyers, encouraged the creation of a respectful and enabling environment for women in the legal profession, and underscored the vital role lawyers play as guardians of justice—championing the rights and dignity of all migrants and vulnerable communities.

The session concluded with the Chief Guest, President Islamabad District Bar Association, Mr. Ch. Naeem Ali Gujjar, praising SHARP’s management and team for a successful initiative and ensuring continued collaboration. Commemorative shields were presented to the Chief Guest by the CEO.
