SHARP Protection Team successfully conducted a one-day capacity-building training session at Police Lines, Rawalpindi, aimed at sensitizing Punjab police officials about Refugee Laws, International Protection, the legal framework, and the role of police in safeguarding human rights. With 48 male and female officers in attendance, the session was started by Mr. Tufiq Ahmed Advocate, Team Leader of the ALAC Unit, who shared SHARP’s mission and highlighted the importance of protecting vulnerable Afghan nationals. Syed Muhammad Saleem, Project Coordinator, provided a comprehensive overview of SHARP’s Protection Project activities, focusing on ACC cardholders.
The session was facilitated by Ms. Shandana (Senior Legal Protection Expert) and Mr. Anwar Shah (Protection Lawyer), while Barrister Irum and Mr. Murtaza Imtaiz, National Protection Officer) led interactive discussions with the officers. In his remarks, Mr. Mudassar Javed, CEO SHARP, praised the police officers for their commitment to public service and emphasized the importance of fulfilling their responsibilities with humanity. Special appreciation was extended to the female police officers for their active participation.
The session concluded with Chief Guest Ms. Shahida Yasmeen, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Administration, expressing heartfelt gratitude to SHARP for its instrumental role in safeguarding Afghan nationals. In recognition of her support and contributions, she was honored with a commemorative shield presented by Mr. Mudassar Javed.
