Team ALAC Islamabad recently conducted a pivotal training workshop on Human Rights and Refugee Laws with officials from Islamabad Police’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) at the Police Training College (PTC) Islamabad.
Our Team Lead, Mr. Taufiq Ahmed, facilitated an engaging session on human rights, underscoring the vital role law enforcement plays in upholding these values. Mr. Waseem Rahman from UNHCR provided an insightful overview on refugee laws and the current status of refugees in Pakistan, furthering participants’ understanding of this important aspect of their work.
Honouring the occasion, PTC Principal Mr. Tahir Khan, as the chief guest, emphasized the importance of equipping police with comprehensive knowledge on human rights and refugee issues, noting, “Such training is essential for fostering a rights-centered approach in policing.”
SHARP’s Project Director (ICT) Mr. Aatif Afzal presented a commemorative shield to the Principal and extended heartfelt gratitude to Islamabad Police, CTD officials, and our facilitators and ALAC team for their invaluable support and pivotal contributions in making this capacity-building initiative a success.
