The SHARP Haripur team recently organized a one-day training workshop on human rights and refugee laws for lawyers of the Haripur Bar Association. The workshop aimed to provide lawyers with the knowledge and tools to better advocate for Afghan refugees in Pakistan.
Mr. Nadeem Fareed, Assistant Professor at Khyber Law College Peshawar, and Mr. Manzoor Ali, Manager, led an insightful session on human rights and refugee laws within the framework of the UN Convention and international commitments. The workshop was monitored by Ms. Laura Antonelia Salvato, First Secretary from the Swiss Embassy. Mr. Asad Saeed Khan, Advocate and President of the Haripur Bar Association, honoured the event as the chief guest.
In her address, Ms. Laura Antonelia Salvato highlighted the vital role that legal professionals play in upholding the rights of vulnerable communities and expressed her appreciation for SHARP’s efforts in this area. In his closing remarks, MR. Syed Liaqat Banori, chairman SHARP-PAKISTAN, emphasized the importance of protecting human rights, especially for refugees. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants, and the chief guest was honoured with a shield in recognition of his valuable contributions and unwavering support.
