ECHO

Project Title: Provision of Integrated Protection Assistance to Afghan Refugees and Other Affected Communities in Pakistan

Implemented By: SHARP in partnership with ICMC, with support of ECHO (European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations)

SHARP is implementing this project with support of ICMC in Peshawar, Chitral, Bunair and Lower Dir. The project focuses on providing legal assistance as well as legal awareness to refugees regarding their rights, while also providing sensitization trainings and capacity building of relevant stakeholders including police, lawyers and media personnel.

The aim of this project is to facilitate 40,000 families or 240,000 individuals by the end of its 12 months duration.

1- Free Legal Sessions
SHARP lawyers conduct legal aid sessions in refugee villages and urban settlements to provide services at their doorsteps. During these sessions refugees participate and discus their problems with teams. They are provided with free Legal services including advice, assitance and Court representation.

2- Free legal representation of Afghan Refugees in courts
Our lawyers provide free legal aid services to Afghan refugees in courts and police stations in case of:
– Harassment and illegal detention
– Arrest under14 Foreigners’ Act and Preventive Law (55/109/107/151)
– Civil (Financial/tenancy) and family matters

3- Free legal counselling of Afghan refugees through lawyers
Afghan refugees are provided free counselling on their legal matters through SHARP lawyers. We have female lawyers for refugee women to share their concerns without hesitation. We are providing advice and counselling in case of :
– Repatriation procedures
– PoR card and PCM
– COI related information
– Procedures regarding legal documentation

4- Free PoR card, birth certificates, education certificates, documentation assistance
Our lawyers also provide free services and assistance to Afghan refugees on matters related to PoR cards, birth certificates, education certificates and other documentation.

5- Free repatriation assistance to Afghan refugees
Our lawyers provide free of cost assistance of Afghan refugees in need of repatriation queries.

6- Referrals
Coordination and referral mechanism is an important component of the project. Our teams have established strong networking ties with UNHCR, Government departments, NGOs and other services providers to facilitate the refugees who approach us with their problems.

7- Helpline
Teams are providing urgent assistance through helpline numbers on each location Peshawar, Bunir, Lower Dir and Chitral. These helpline numbers are disseminated through field visits, legal sessions and community meetings to address and respond refugees queries. These Helpline numbers are also given at the end of this flyer for your convenience and record.
