One-day Police Training Workshop on Human Rights & Refugee Laws under SHARP–ALAC–III in Chakwal

Strengthening collaborative efforts on human rights and refugee protection, SHARP in partnership with UNHCR conducted a one-day police training workshop on “Human Rights & Refugee Laws” under SHARP–ALAC–III in Chakwal, aimed at enhancing the capacity of law enforcement officials on key protection frameworks.

The session was inaugurated by Ms. Amina Taj, who welcomed the participants, appreciated their engagement, and outlined SHARP’s mandate along with the objectives of the training.

In line with UNHCR-recommended methodology, pre- and post-training assessments were conducted to evaluate participants’ knowledge and measure the impact of the training session.

Mr. Aatif Afzal, Project Director (ICT), delivered a comprehensive presentation on Human Rights, focusing on the concept of rights, their key characteristics, and their significance in ensuring dignity, equality, and protection under the law.

Ms. Ghazala Mirza (UNHCR) emphasized the importance of human rights-based approaches in refugee protection and highlighted the responsibility of law enforcement in upholding international protection standards.
The training concluded with strong engagement from police officials, reflecting enhanced understanding and strengthened awareness of human rights and refugee protection principles.
