Day 3: The Justice Chain, Up Close
Police. Prosecution. The Bench. All in One Room.
What does it really take to get justice for a survivor? Day 3 went straight to the people who make it happen. In a lively, no-holds-barred panel, Mr. Tanvir Ahmad Tahir, AIGP Establishment, Sindh Police, and Ms. Samreen Waqra, Deputy Director, Prosecution Department, got candid about:
•
how police respond to and investigate GBV cases;
•
what prosecutors need as evidence;
•
how lawyers and law enforcement can work better together for survivors.
Mr. Naveed Ahmad Soomro, District & Sessions Judge, brought the view from the bench. He explained how Pakistani courts interpret human rights and GBV, and walked through the medico-legal framework, from examination and documentation to consent, dignity and confidentiality.
In between, participants found their voices!
Coached by Mr. Mudassar Javed and Ms. Qurat-ul-Ain, they paired up to prepare and deliver short public-speaking pieces on community legal awareness.
