SHARP-Women Training Begins: 25 Balochistan Women Lawyers Take the First Step Toward Human Rights Leadership

Day 1: Where Champions Begin
25 Young Women Lawyers. One Bold Mission.
📌 SHARP-Women Balochistan Cohort | Highlights, Day 1 of 5
Every movement starts with a first step, and this was ours! 🚀

25 young women lawyers from Balochistan arrived at the Sindh Judicial Academy, Karachi, united by one belief: women lawyers can be powerful champions of human rights.

The day opened with warm welcomes from the SJA and SHARP. After a baseline assessment, participants were introduced to the SHARP-Women initiative and its vision of Women Human Rights Champions.

Then came the building blocks:
• SHARP CEO Mr. Mudassar Javed unpacked women’s constitutional rights, the UDHR and gender equality in the justice sector. Later he led a high-energy sprint on digital advocacy.
• Ms. Kalpana Devi (Member SPSC; former Addl. Advocate General Sindh) spoke on leadership, ethics and the role of women lawyers in preventing GBV.
• Mr. Muhammad Arif Rajput (Addl. Sessions Judge / Faculty SJA) explored how AI and digital evidence are changing the courtroom.

In small groups, participants tackled real-life discrimination scenarios and mapped the legal protections for each one.
