Capacity-building Workshop for Judicial Officers at KP Judicial Academy (KPJA) Peshawar

Strengthening judicial understanding on refugee protection and human rights, SHARP, in collaboration with UNHCR, organized a one-day capacity-building workshop for Judicial Officers at KP Judicial Academy (KPJA), Peshawar. Bringing together 35 Civil Judges/Ilaqa Qazis from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the One-Day Capacity Building Workshop created an interactive learning space focused on refugee protection, human rights, and the Foreigners Act 1946.
Ms. Memoona Batool Khan, Project Director KP, welcomed participants, while Mr. Muddasir Javed, CEO SHARP, reaffirmed SHARP’s commitment to access to justice and protection of vulnerable communities through strong partnerships.
DG KPJA, Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari, attended the opening and closing sessions and appreciated the initiative for strengthening judicial capacity on protection-related issues.
Sessions covered the UDHR (1948) with a focus on Article 14, international refugee protection frameworks, durable solutions, and the Foreigners Act 1946. Resource persons included Mr. Fareed Nadeem (University of Peshawar), legal experts, and Mr. Sahibzada Younas, representative of UNHCR.
The workshop concluded with certificate distribution, reinforcing shared commitment towards justice, human rights, and refugee protection in Pakistan.
