Empowering a New Generation: SHARP Pakistan Launches First Batch of SHARP-Women Capacity Building Programme in Karachi

Every empowered woman lawyer has the power to change a life, challenge injustice, and inspire a generation. With this vision, SHARP Pakistan, through its SHARP-Women initiative and with the generous support of the German Embassy Islamabad, proudly launched the first cohort of 25 young women lawyers in a transformative five-day capacity-building program at the Sindh Judicial Academy, Karachi.
The programme opened with an inspiring video message from Mr. Liaqat Banori, Chairman, SHARP Pakistan, who encouraged participants to embrace this opportunity to grow as leaders and human rights advocates, while thanking the German Embassy Islamabad for its continued support for women’s empowerment in law and justice.
In her inaugural address, Justice Mrs. Rashida Asad, Director General, Sindh Judicial Academy, highlighted the vital role of women lawyers in advancing justice and appreciated SHARP Pakistan for empowering the next generation of women legal professionals. Mr. Aatif Afzal, Project Director—ICT, SHARP Pakistan, presented the vision of the SHARP-Women initiative to nurture Women Human Rights Champions.
The opening day featured an orientation, pre-assessment, and expert-led sessions. Ms. Qurat-ul-Ain, Senior Lawyer at SHARP, facilitated participant introductions, while Mr. Ali Palh, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of Pakistan, led sessions on Human Rights & Women’s Rights Frameworks and Discrimination and Protective Frameworks. Ms. Safia Lakho, Senior Advocate and Certified GBV Trainer, conducted a session on GBV Laws and Procedural Safeguards. Through SHARP-Women, SHARP Pakistan remains committed to empowering women lawyers as leaders, advocates, and champions of justice, equality, and human rights.
