From learning the law to leading change, Day 2 of the SHARP-Women Capacity Building Programme at the Sindh Judicial Academy (SJA), Karachi, empowered participants with practical tools to advance gender-responsive justice through a deeper understanding of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), ethical leadership, trauma-informed legal support, and national and international protection frameworks.
The day began with a recap by the SHARP team, led by PD- ICT Mr. Aatif Afzal, followed by expert-led sessions by Mr. Naveed Somroo, District & Session Judge and SJA Senior Faculty; Ms. Kalpana Devi (Sr. Adv. SCP; Ex Addl. AG Sindh; Ms. Rida Tahir, Sr. Adv.; Member SindhHuman Rights Commission; Ms. Yasirah Gohar, Senior Clinical Psychologist; and Ms. Qurat-ul-Ain, Team Lead Karachi, SHARP Pakistan.
The sessions covered leadership and professional ethics, gender-based violence (GBV), legal safeguards, women’s rights, trauma-informed legal support, and national and international GBV protection frameworks, equipping participants with practical knowledge to deliver survivor-centred legal services. Supported by the German Embassy Islamabad, SHARP-Women is building a new generation of women lawyers committed to justice, equality, and human rights.
