16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an international campaign to challenge violence against women and girls. The campaign runs every year from 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, Human Rights Day.
This 16-day period also highlights other significant dates including: December 3- International Day of Persons with Disabilities. It aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. The 16 Days of Activism campaign calls for action against one of the world’s most persistent violations of human rights – violence against women.
The theme of the 2018 Campaign is “End Gender-Based Violence in the World of Work.” SHARP-SDC field teams actively celebrated sixteen days of activism in 2018 and organized various following activities:
Mardan: team organized a Cricket match on December 6th, 2018, between the RV Gandaff Team and RV Barakai team at RV Gandalf playground.
Peshawar: Peshawar team celebrated two days sports festival for disabled persons on November (28-29), 2018 at Islamia College Peshawar. Disabled refugees actively participated in various activities including: Table Tennis, Basket Ball, and Live Ludo & Archery.
Kohat: SHARP-SDC Kohat team organized a festival at ghamkol primary school on December 6, 2018. . Various activities were performed including speech competition, tableau and games. Tableau was played with theme of educational violence.
